One Watershed, One Plan

One Watershed, One Plan (1W1P) is a program that supports partnerships of local government units in developing a prioritized, targeted, and measurable implementation plan designed to help gain more conservation on the landscape. Key principles include comprehensive water planning at the major watershed scale and aligning local plans and citizen input with state strategies.

Meeting Calendar



Policy Committee
The Watonwan Watershed Planning Partnership Policy Committee is made up of elected officials from each County Board of Commissioners and Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Board of Supervisors. The purpose of the Policy Committee is to determine priority issues and priority areas for implementation, make final decisions about the content of the plan and its submittal, and expenditure of funds allocated for plan development. The consultant should engage the Policy Committee throughout this process and regularly provide updates to the Policy Committee.
*Note the Policy Committee meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 1:00 pm as needed.


Steering Team

The purpose of the Steering Team is to provide logistical and process decision making in the plan development process and will work with the consultant to formulate recommendations for consideration by the Advisory Committee and Policy Committee. Local government staff from each county, including County staff, SWCD staff and others will coordinate and collaborate with the consultant as needed.


Citizen Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee serves to make recommendations on plan content and the planning process, including processes for identifying the range of resource concerns and issues, prioritizing issues, and defining and describing protection strategies. The Advisory Committee is composed of representatives from the State's main water and/or plan review agencies, representatives from agricultural and recreation groups, and municipalities/townships. The members are expected to communicate plan related activities to their respective organizations and identify practical concerns during the plan development process. Members also serve the role in speaking about the plan within the community and assisting the Policy Committee in ensuring a credible process.
