These programs are designed to serve residents of Watonwan County who receive public assistance:
The Diversionary Work Program (DWP) - This is a four month program that provides services and supports to eligible families to help them move immediately to work rather than go on welfare.
DWP may help with rent, utilities, child care, and transportation.
The Food Stamp Employment and Training Program - This is for people receiving only food assistance. The services our office offers include case management, job seeking skills, and possibly some transportation.
The Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) - This is for families receiving cash and food stamps. MFIP requires that most people receiving assistance go to work.
This program assists recipients in becoming self-sufficient by providing case management services, and job seeking skills training. MFIP provides day care and transportation assistance for participants who go to work.
