Responsibilities and Services
This Watonwan County Human Services Financial Assistance unit provides financial support to elderly, disabled and low-income residents of Watonwan County. Eligibility for the program(s) is based on the household's income and assets. The amount of monthly benefits is based on income and the number of people in the household. Upon receipt of the application an interview will be scheduled. The initial month's benefits are based on the date the first page of the application is received by the agency.
The 2024-2025 County and Tribal National MFIP Biennial Service Agreement is available for public review and comment. Please contact Financial Assistance Supervisor, Jodi Halvorson, by phone at (507) 375-7811 or email Jodi.Halvorson@co.watonwan.mn.us if you would like a copy.

Report Fraud
Watonwan County is committed to ensuring the programs we administer are providing benefits to people who are eligible to receive them. Anyone who suspects public assistance fraud can report it anonymously by calling our agency at (507) 375-3294.
Minnesota Health Care Programs
Minnesota offers several health care programs to people who qualify. Health Care programs pay for medical care for very low-income people. Eligibility for the program(s) is based on income and assets.
To obtain an application for medical programs, you may contact Watonwan County Human Services, or view and download an application from the links below or apply online at MNsure. When you apply, you will be required to fill out an application and may be asked for proof of the information you provide.
